Our client is looking for a Senior Geologist to join their well-established international mining company in Phoenix, Arizona. The Senior Geologist will work under general supervision and complete logging of drill samples, conduct geologic mapping and complete resource block models. They will provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership in geological exploration and resource modeling. Job
The Senior Geologist will be responsible for the following tasks.
• Perform logging of core and reverse circulation drill cuttings and peer review evaluation of Geologist I and II logging quality.
• Supervise and direct drilling, road construction and drill sample preparation contractors.
• Integrate and interpret all geological data (e.g., rock type, alteration, structure), assay, and mineralogical data into geologic maps and internally consistent cross sections and level plans.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to Geologist I and II to develop their skills.
• Supervise a team of Geologists in the completion of computerized resource block models that meet corporate modeling standards.
• Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations. Maintain current working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
• Prepare and update drill hole database, maps of deposits and other exploration records.
• Work with Metallurgists in providing samples for processing testing and evaluation and in the development of ore types.
• Perform surface and underground geologic mapping.
• Assist in the formulation of short-range plans and budget preparation for geological exploration and evaluation at assigned site.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline and five (5) years experience in geology or related scientific field, OR Master's degree in Geology and three (3) years experience in geology or related scientific field
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience
• Experience in core and RC logging, planning and executing drilling programs, and interpreting geologic and ore boundaries in cross-section and plan using MineSight®
• Experience managing consultants
• Experience using MineSight® and acQuire® or other mining software
Criteria/Conditions
• Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) during the course of the workday.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
• Our client promotes a drug/ alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws.
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience
• Experience in core and RC logging, planning and executing drilling programs, and interpreting geologic and ore boundaries in cross-section and plan using MineSight®
• Experience managing consultants
• Experience using MineSight® and acQuire® or other mining software
