Our client is looking for a Senior Geologist to join their well-established international mining company in Phoenix, Arizona. The Senior Geologist will work under general supervision and complete logging of drill samples, conduct geologic mapping and complete resource block models. They will provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership in geological exploration and resource modeling. Job

The Senior Geologist will be responsible for the following tasks.

• Integrates and interprets all geological and mineralogical data into internally consistent surface geology maps, cross sections, and level plans
• Works with a team of geologists in the completion of geological block models that meet corporate modeling standards
• Performs statistical and geostatistical evaluations of drill-hole data. Performs grade interpolation using various geostatistical techniques
• Prepares, updates and manages drill hole databases for resource models
• Develops coding methodology, including relogging if necessary, and manages the entry of geological (e.g. rock type, alteration, structure, ore types), assay, and mineralogical data into database
Routinely validates databases for accuracy
Works with and provides support to the Resource Audit Team in their audits of resource models
Prepares PowerPoint presentations and figures as needed by management
Performs logging or relogging of core and reverse circulation cuttings
Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline and five (5) years experience in geology or related scientific field OR Master's degree in Geology and three (3) years experience in geology or related scientific field
• Knowledge of the principles and methods used in complex geological analyses
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Knowledge and experience in geostatistical methods for grade estimation
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Knowledge and experience in managing computerized databases
• Knowledge and experience in using resource modeling software for interpretation of geological and mineralogical features and grade interpolation for resource block models
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Criteria/Conditions

• Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) during the course of the workday.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
• Our client promotes a drug/ alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
