About this role

Responsibilities

  • Managing HSSE, Quality, Regulatory, Interface Management, Site Construction and Commissioning in the EPC contractor’s office transitioning to site in Squamish, BC
  • Supervise a PMT team of HSSE, quality, interface, construction and commissioning members with functional support from project management, engineering, project controls, contracts, procurement, subcontracts, operations and maintenance
  • Provide input into the project execution plan, HSSE management plan, quality management plan, interface management plan, construction execution plan and commissioning plan as well as other key project plans and procedures
  • Coordinate PMT and contractors’ activities to support the WLNG Business Unit HSSE and regulatory personnel in the development, submission and approval of all Canadian Federal, Provincial and Local permits to support the project execution strategy
  • Ensure areas of responsibility meets company, oil and gas industry as well as Canadian safely, regulatory, environmental and quality standards
  • Accountable for controlling scope of work, risk management, change management, costs and schedule as well as forecasting to deliver the project within budget and schedule for areas of responsibility
  • Provide accurate reporting in a timely manner

About you

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 20+ years of project experience in major capital projects in the oil and gas industry, including LNG project experience, in varies execution phase key roles in project management, construction and commissioning management
  • Has strong knowledge/experience in field construction and commissioning of LNG, gas compression and gas processing facilities
  • Has practical working knowledge/experience in HSSE, Quality, Contracts, Project Controls (Cost and Planning), Procurement and Materials Management
  • At least 10+ years of direct supervisory experience managing large teams
  • Worked on $1.0+ Billion EPC projects
  • Able to balance technical decision making with commercial considerations to protect the project goals, objectives, cost and schedule
  • Team player with proven management and leadership skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships quickly in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and multi-company environments

    In carrying out the role, the Deputy Project Director:

Pre-FID: Will be required to work both in Houston and in BC; depending on the selected contractor, the role will be relocated to the selected execution contractor’s office

Post-FID: Work in contractor offices and move to site in BC, Canada at the appropriate transition time to manage the position’s areas of responsibilities

General: Travel globally to support the project execution, as required, for meetings, workshops, audits, supplier inspections, FATs, etc.
