About this role

We’re hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team to work on mineral processing projects across Canada and globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of mechanical engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
  • Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment by specifying requirements and assisting Procurement with the purchase of equipment.
  • Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
  • Evaluate tenders from a technical standpoint by applying multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience.
  • Assist the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required.
  • Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by working with Engineers and Designers.
  • Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering and P.Eng
  • Minimum 10 years mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing, materials handling, heavy industrial.
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
  • Prior experience leading mechanical project teams.
  • Proven ability to lead teams.
  • Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
  • Ability to complete performance reviews on study and project personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.
